1. Using CTRL Key to Deselect Multiple Cells/Columns/Rows. You can use the CTRL key to deselect specific cells or ranges of cells from a larger selection. This feature can be useful when you have selected a large range of cells, but need to remove one or more cells, columns from that selection to perform certain operations.
You can see after the selection that selected columns get unselected. Deselect the Entire Columns in Excel. First, press and hold the "Control" key from the keyboard. After that, click on the column header and drag to the entire column to deselect that column from your current selection.
Pressing the Ctrl key, you can click, or click-and-drag to deselect any cells or ranges within a selection. If you need to reselect any of those cells, continue holding the Ctrl key and reselect those cells (for Mac, use the Cmd key).

To deselect non-contiguous cells, hold down the Ctrl key then click on each selected cell. It's easy, right? 😀. The same works if you selected columns or rows. If you need to deselect columns, hold down "Ctrl" and click on the specific column headers (or drag the mouse if they're contiguous).
